Perry Funeral Monday in Viola

  Samuel Perry, 75, of Viola, died in his home Friday, April 10, 1953, at 11 a.m., following an extended illness.
  Funeral services were held from the Crummy Funeral home Viola, at 2 p. m. Sunday, with Rev. Allen C. Eastland officiating. Miss Rose Tary sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden", playing her own accompaniment.
  Burial was in the Hamlet cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Howie, George Shaw, Fred Mitchell, Adiel De Roo, William Nicholson, and Maynard Fisher.
  The son of Eli and Ann Vivens Perry, he was born in Perryton township May 1, 1877. He was a life-long resident of Mercer county, and was a farmer for many years, retiring from the farm when he moved to Viola in 1946.
  Surviving are three daughters Mrs. Russell Kell of Aledo, Mrs. Delos Spickler, Moline; and Mrs. Wreathel Wober, who was with her father to care for him during his last illness; two sons, Russell and Maynard Perry of Rock Island; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; two brothers C. W. and Nels Perry both of Aledo, and a number of nieces and nephews.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
