Mrs. Helena C. Peterson
Mrs. Lena C. Peterson, 89 years, 7 months, formerly of
Corning, died August 7, 1947 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leo
Shinn, 948 N. Court, Ottumwa, Iowa, where she had resided the past two
years. She was the daughter of Christian and Mary Ann Larson and was
born in Denmark, Jan 6, 1858.
She came to the United States when she was 15 years old. She was
married to Jacob Peterson in 1877 and they lived on a farm in Adams
County, later moving to Corning. Mrs. Peterson was a member of the
Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, of Omaha, Nebr.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Leo Shinn of Ottumwa; Mrs. L.
A. Jensen of Omaha; Anna Marie Jensen, Colorado Springs, Colo., and four
sons, Pete Peterson, Lewiston, Mont., James and Harry Peterson, both of
Omaha; Andrew Peterson, Yakima, Washington; also 15 grandchildren, five
great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Tena Stender, Council Bluffs and
Mrs. Mary Rogers, Richmond, Calif.; a brother, Walter Larson, Sioux
City.
Funeral services were held in the Boyd Roland Company Funeral
Home, Sunday afternoon, August 10, at 2 o'clock, Rev. Clarence
Richardson, of Lenox, officiating. Interment was in Walnut Grove
Cemetery. Music was rendered by Mrs. Leodale Harrison, accompanied by
Mildred Brown. Pall bearers were Ed Larson, Sam McConkay, Bill Roth, Roy
Jensen, Alfred Larson and Ira Stender.
