George Phillips
George Vinton Phillips, 78, was born Feb. 6, 1913, in Adams
County to Charles and Stella Dunn Phillips and died July 7, 1991, at his home in Corning.
On May 15, 1940, he was married to Edith Alice Lane in Creston.
She preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 1986. They farmed in Adams County
until retirement in 1965. After moving to Corning he worked in
maintenance at Westgate Housing. He was a member of the Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother.
He is survived by one son, Marvin and his wife JoAnn of Corning;
two daughters, Joyce Graf and her husband Fred of Nodaway and Connie K.
Agnew and her husband Harold of Glenwood; 10 grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Gerber, Velda Goodvin and Ruby
Konecne, all of Corning; and one sister-in-law Muriel Phillips also of Corning.
Services were held July 10 at the Roland Lindsay Funeral Home
with the Rev. Max Nelson officiating. Casket bearers were Gaylen Goodvin,
Darwin Goodvin, Reldon Konecne, Bill Preston, Bob Herzog and Jerry
Lewis. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Corning.
