Lenora Phillips
Mrs. G. A. Phillips died at her home in north Corning Tuesday, April
14, 1914, aged 68 years, 11 months and 5 days. Funeral services will be
held Thursday, April 16th, at St. Patricks Catholic church, at 10
o'clock a. m., conducted by Rev. Father Dollard, of Corning, and Rev.
Father Quinn, of Red Oak. Interment will be made in Calvary cemetery.
Mrs. Lenora (Mehan) Phillips was born in County Sligo, Ireland,
in 1845, and went to England when she was 9 years of age. She was
married to Henry Tittle in 1864 and came to America in 1885, where Mr.
Tittle died in 1892, and she was married to G. A. Phillips in 1895. Mrs.
Phillips was a devoted wife, a kind friend and neighbor and had a large
circle of friends in this vicinity where she had resided for a number of
years. She is survived by her husband, G. A. Phillips, and three
step-sons, William, Fred and Charles Phillips, all of Adams county.
Relatives from a distance who are here to attend the funeral are James
Phillips, of Centerville, brother of G. A. Phillips; Tom Phillips, from
LaSalle, Ill., a nephew; Mother Elizabeth and Sister Mary Blanche, the
latter a niece of Mrs. Phillips, from Council Bluffs; George and
Windiline Miller, from Davenport.
