Funeral Services For Hobart Pierce
Funeral services for Hobart E. Pierce were held from the
Farber and Otteman Funeral Home Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev.
Edward Moore, Pastor of the Christian Church, was in charge.
Music at the service consisted of organ recordings, Mrs. L. E.
Havens, Mrs. Howard Mayclin and Leonards have charge of the flowers.
Attendants were Reuben Bruner, Lucian Havens, Carl Larson, Floyd
Freeman, Roy Paeper and Roland Peyton. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Sac City.
Hobart E. Pierce was born in Jones County, Iowa, February 15,
1879 and passed away in Sac City April 7, 1958, having attained the age
of 79 years, one month and 22 days.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Olive, a son Quinton of
Omaha, Nebraska, a daughter Marion (Mrs. James Young) of Lakefield,
Minnesota, and a brother Lee of Omaha.
Hobart Earl Pierce, the son of Zephania and Mary Boots Pierce,
was born February 15, 1879 near Anamosa in Jones County, Iowa. He was
the third child in a family of eight. As a boy he moved with his parents
to the Sac City community where he lived until the time of his death and
where he worked as a carpenter for almost fifty years.
In 1910, he married Olive Crew at Independence, Iowa. They were
the parents of three children: an infant who died at birth, a son,
Quinton H. of Omaha, Nebraska and a daughter, Marian, Mrs. James Young
of Lakefield, Minnesota.
Mr. Pierce was a long time member of the First Christian Church
having joined that group at the age of 18 years.
In addition to his wife and children, Mr. Pierce is survived by
two grandsons, one brother and several nephews and nieces.

Buchanan, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Charles Hurlbut, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Mooney, Nemaha; Mr. and Mrs. Vere Quail, Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Alvey Boots, Nemaha.
