Lucille Powell
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille E. Powell, 70, formerly of
Preemption, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Crummy Funeral Home,
Reynolds. The Rev. Thomas Mack officiated and burial was in St. Joseph's
Cemetery, Matherville.
Mrs. Powell died in Moline Lutheran Hospital on Wednesday, Jan.
17, after an extended illness.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer or Heart funds.
The former Lucille Thornton was born March 21, 1908, in
Conesville, Ia., a daughter of John and Emma Butcher Thornton. She was
educated in Iowa schools.
On April 19, 1947, she was married to Leo Mack in Matherville. He
died in 1966. She later married Charles Powell on Dec. 3, 1971.
Mrs. Powell is the former owner of a Reynolds restaurant and was
more recently employed at the Davenport Country Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters.
Mrs. Maurice DeBacker of Coyne Center and Mrs. Jerry Parchert of
Reynolds; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Cleota Pletcher of Tipton,
Ia., and a niece, Mrs. Richard Runbom of Reynolds who was reared in the Mack home.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and a brother.
Pallbearers were Dennis Runbom, Kevin Runbom, Steve Mack, James
DeRocker, K. Kranbeck, and Phillip Wagner.
