Mrs. Emma Presnell
SCRANTON - Mrs. Emma Presnell, 91, lifelong resident of the
Scranton area, died Wednesday morning, March 17, at Greene County
Hospital in Jefferson following a long illness. She was the widow of Dr.
J. W. Presnell, M. D., a pioneer physician at Scranton.
Arrangements are pending at the Huffman Funeral Home in Scranton.
Mrs. Presnell is survived by four sons and a daughter: Lowell and
Wade Presnell, Scranton; Mrs. Irene Later, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Bryce
Presnell, Rippey; and Frank Presnell, Marshalltown.
She was born in Greene County.

Scranton - Last rites for Mrs. Emma Presnell, 91, Scranton,
will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Methodist Church here. The
Rev. William Rieckhoff will officiate; and interment will be in the
Scranton Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Huffman Funeral Home in Scranton after 2 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Presnell died March 17 at the Greene County Hospital,
Jefferson, following a long illness. A lifelong resident of the Scranton
area, she was the widow of Dr. J . W. Presnell, pioneer Scranton physician.

SCRANTON - Funeral services were held March 20 at 2 p.m. at
the Methodist Church here for Mrs. J. W. (Emma) Presnell. The Rev.
William Rieckhoff officiated. Mrs. James Schumburg sang "In the
Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," accompanied at
the organ by Mrs. Harry Smith. Pallbearers included Duane Eberle, Jim
Juergens, Ron Juergens, Bill Gibson, Forrest Gibson and Lyle Hutchison.
Burial was in the Scranton Cemetery, under direction of the Huffman
Funeral Home.
Emma Chleo Frease, daughter of Joseph and Adelaide Stewart Frease,
was born in Greene County June 30, 1873, she died March 17 at the Greene
County Hospital in Jefferson following a lengthy illness.
She was married to Dr. J.W. Presnell and they made their home in
Scranton where he practiced medicine. They had five sons and two
daughters. A son and daughter died in infancy. Her husband also preceded
her in death, as did a brother, John, and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie
McPherson of Glidden and Lillie Frease.
Survivors include four sons, Lowell and Wade of Scranton; Bryce
of Rippey and Frank of Marshalltown, a daughter Mrs. Irene Later of
Idaho Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Presnell spent all her life in Greene County and most of it
in Scranton where she was a member of the Methodist Church, Order of the
Eastern Star, White Shrine, Past Noble Grand of Ariel Rebekah Lodge No.
60 and the Wednesday Club.
