| Minnie Prestidge
Funeral services for Minnie E. Prestidge, 83, of 3130 9th St.,
Rock Island, were held at 1 o'clock this afternoon, Wednesday, in the
Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial was in the Aledo Cemetery.
Memorials were made to the First Church of the Nazarene, Rock Island.
Mrs. Prestidge died Saturday, June 13, in Rock Island
Convalescent Center.
She graduated from Chicago University School of Nursing. She was
employed by the state of Illinois for 30 years. Before that she was a
mail carrier in Aledo, the first woman mail carrier in Illinois.
Minnie Whiteside married Harrie Prestidge in Rock Island. He died in 1975.
She was a member of the First Church of Nazarene.
Survivors include five stepdaughters, Grace Kasdorf and Harriet
Van Pelt, both of Sturgis, MI; Shirley Hendricks, Tucson, AR; Lou
Houghtailing of Dowling, MI; and Bea Geiger, Battle Creek, MI; 13
step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Josephine
Therrien of Rock Island; and a brother, William Whiteside, Aledo.
