Ella C. Quinn

In Memoriam

Of Ella C. Quinn, who departed this life June 9th, 1888:
"A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home,
      Which never can be filled."
Saturday morning the Angel of Death knocked at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Quinn, whispering, "I have come for your daughter Ella;" and while the forms of those she loved were bowed in prayer and resignation, "Nell," with that smile we knew so well, seemed to place her hand in that of the angel and say: "Not my will but thine be done." She had been sick over two years, during which time she suffered intensely, but, nevertheless, bore all with patience and resignation. Having been on the verge of death several times, her sister, who is a sister of charity in Our Lady of Angels Seminary, Lyons, Iowa, and her brother, who resides in Omaha, were summoned home at different times, but neither were with her at the hour of death. Her brother, however, arrived in time for the funeral. The services were conducted by Rev. J. J. Moran, of St. James church, and were largely attended, as her cheerful and noble disposition had won her a large circle of friends, who all sympathize deeply with the bereaved parents, and although Nell is dead to the world, we will not forget her and will offer a prayer in memory of one we love.
She has gone, she has gone,
    From her suffering and pain,
From this world of sorrow and care,
Gone to the relms of the heaven above,
To watch and to pray for you there.
