Thos. Quinn Dies In His 89th Year
A Native of Ireland-Came to Washington County In The Early 70's
After ten days of severe suffering, Thomas Quinn passed away
yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at his home in northwest Washington.
The cause of his death was inflammation of the kidneys, his advanced age
making it impossible for him to successfully combat the disease,
although he displayed a remarkable vitality to the very last.
Mr. Quinn was a native of Ireland. He was born in Tunneniore,
Kings County, Ireland, May 10, 1827 and lived there until young manhood,
when he came to America, settling first at Albany, New York. In 1873, he
came further west and established a home in this county near Cotter,
residing there until he moved to Washington some years ago. At Albany,
Mr. Quinn was united in marriage to Bridget Swift, and their married
life covered a period of 60 years. Mrs. Quinn survives the husband, and
four children are also living: Mary J. Quinn, Mrs. Otis Hicks, and
Teresa Quinn, all of Washington and J. T. Quinn of St. Louis. The
deceased was a man whose principles of living were of the highest,
avoiding all pretentions and living his life in close cooperation with
the Golden Rule. Until his last illness, Mr. Quinn displayed a keen
interest in current events and kept himself well posted on the questions
and occurrences of the day. He was a faithful member of the Catholic church.
The funeral will be held Friday morning at the St. James church
at 9 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Father Guinan.
