Mrs. Lena Reck
Mrs. Lena Reck, 90, mother of Mrs. Marie Stark and Mrs. Joe
Mosman of Carroll, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony Hospital
after an illness of about a week. Mrs. Reck had lived with her daughter,
Mrs. Stark, 518 North Clark Street, for the last year.
Requiem mass will be offered by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. P. T. Lynch at
9 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The body is resting at the Twit Funeral Home, where the rosary
will by prayed at 8 p.m. Saturdayand Sunday. Msgr. Lynch will lead the
recitation Sunday night.
Mrs. Reck was born Lena Reinart Oct. 14, 1865, in Minnesota. As a
small child, she came to Carroll County with her parents, Matt and Susan
Friedman Reinart. The family located on a farm east of Halbur, where she
lived until her marriage to Michael Reck Feb. 4, 1887, at Holy Angels Church, Roselle.
Shortly after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Reck moved to
Davenport, where they lived for several years. Then they returned to
Halbur and in 1923 moved to Bettendorf, where they resided for a long time.
Mr. Reck died Jan. 26, 1948. Mrs. Reck was also preceded in death
by one son, William Reck, a brother, Nick Reinart, and two sisters. Mrs.
Bill (Josephine) Neu and Mrs. Charles (Ann) Eich.
Surviving daughters and sons are: Mrs. Adolph (Anna) Pittner,
Gainesville, Tex.; Mrs. Stark, Carroll; Pete Reck, Wichita Falls, Tex.;
Mrs. Mosman (Elizabeth), Carroll; Joe W. Reck, Walcott and George M.
Reck, Rock Island, Ill.
Mrs. Reck also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Elizabseth Neu, Lindsay,
Tex.; and Mrs. Mary Schneider, Holdredge, Neb., three brothers, Pete
Reinart, Halbur; Joe Reinart, Carroll; and John Reinart, Manning; 25
grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She received her schooling at Roselle.
Mrs. Reck was a member of St. Joseph's Church.

Mrs. Lena Reck
Final Rites were conducted at. St. Joseph's Church at 9 a.m.
Monday for Mrs. Lena Reck, 90, mother of Mrs. Marie Stark and Mrs. Joe
Mosman of Carroll. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. P. T. Lynch offered requiem mass
and delivered the sermon. The Rev. Robert Thiele officiated at graveside
rites in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Arthur Reinart, Carroll, Franklin Pietig,
Dedham.; Herbert Eich and Lawrence Neppl, Halbur; Arden Mosman, Viola,
and Paul Reck, Wichita Falls, Tex.
All of Mrs. Reck's sons and daughters were at the rites. From
away were: Mrs. Adolph Pittner, Gainesville, Tex.; Mr. and Mrs. Pete
Reck and family, Wichita Falls, Tex.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Reck and son,
Jerry, Walcott, and Mr. and Mrs. George Reck and son, Rock Island, Ill.
Among other out-of-town relatives were Mrs. Reck's sister, Mrs. Mary
Schneider, Holdredge, Neb.; brothers, Pete Reinart, Halbur, and Joe
Reinart, Omaha, and brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart
and family, Manning.
LeRoy Reinart, Storm Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Neu, Arcadia; Mrs.
Dwight Daugherty and Olive Mosman, Des Moines; Mrs. Nettie Fischer,
Manning; Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Pietig, Dedham; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Neppl and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eich and son, Herb, Halbur.
There were many other relatives and friends from Halbur, Mrs.
Reck's former home, and Arcadia.
Mrs. Reck, widow of Michael Reck, had lived in Carroll with her
daughter, Mrs. Stark, for the last year.
Survivors besides those named include 25 grandchildren, 30
great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Neu, Lindsay, Tex.
