Mike Reck, 78, Is Dead; Blacksmith For Many Years
Mike Reck, 78, succumbed to a heart ailment at St. Anthony
hospital at 2:50 this morning after being, in declining health the last
six months. Mr. Reck, who had lived with his daughter, Mrs. F. A. Stark,
the last year and a half, had been in the hospital the past few days.
Funeral services will be at 9 a. m. Wednesday a t St. Joseph
church, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. P. T. Lynch offering the requiem mass.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The rosary, led by Msgr. Lynch, will be prayed at 8 o'clock
Tuesday night at the Huffman funeral home, where the body is resting
until the time of the rites.
Mr. Reck formerly lived in Halbur 34 years. Born November 25,
1869, at Peoria, Ill., he came in 1890 to Halbur, where he was in the
blacksmith business.
He was married February 4, 1890, to Lena Reinart at Holy Angels
church, Roselle. In 1924, Mr. and Mrs. Reck moved to Bettendorf, where
he worked in the Bettendorf shops.

Mr. Reck leaves his wife, who is at Mrs. Stark's home, three
daughters and three sons: Mrs. A. Pittner (Anna), Gainesville, Tex.;
Mrs. Stark (Marie), Carroll; Pete Reck, Wichita Falls, Tex.; Mrs. Joe M.
Mosman (Elizabeth), Carroll; Joe, Walcott, Ia., and George, Rock Island, Ill.
One son, William, died in 1903.

Funeral Services For Mike Reck Held Wednesday
Funeral services for Mike Reck, who died early Monday morning
at St. Anthony hospital, were conducted at 9 a. m. Wednesday at St.
Joseph church.
The Rt. Rev. Monsignor P. T. Lynch offered the requiem mass.
The Rev. Fr. R. J. Quinn officiated at graveside rites in the
parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: Franklin Pietig of Dedham, John Eich,
Dr. C. A. Langenfeld, Arden Mosman, James Moran and John Egan.
From a distance at the services were Mr. Reck's sons, Joe, of
Walcott, Iowa, and Pete, Wichita Falls, Tex. There were also many
relatives and friends from Halbur, where Mr. Reck formerly lived for, 34
years, also Arcadia and the surrounding community.

A son, George, of Rock Island, Ill., had been here for a week-end
visit with his parents. A daughter, Mrs. Adolph Pittner of Gainesville,
Tex, was unable to attend the rites.
