James Redpath
Funeral Mass for James Kenneth Redpath, 83, of Matherville,
who died yesterday at his home, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St.
Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Matherville. The Rev. Richard Slavish,
pastor of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Alexis, and the Rev. C.M.
Meyers, retired pastor, officiating. Burial will be at St. John's
Catholic Cemetery, Viola.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the
Crummy and McKitrick Funeral Home, Viola, where the recitation of the
rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Roman
Catholic Church.
He was born Aug. 31, 1903, in Newcastle, England, son of Robert
and Margaret Dowie Redpath. He attended Matherville schools.
He married Ella David on Oct. 1, 1929 in Preemption. He was
employed by International Harvester Farmall Works for 37 years as a
repairman, retiring in 1965.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, the
Matherville Eagles and the Mercer County Knights of Columbus.
Surviving with his wife are four daughters, Mary Adams of
Matherville, Marjorie Mapes of Rock Island, and Dorothy Anderson and
Juli Pitman, both of Matherville; a son, Robert of Matherville; 28
grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Stegmiller of Moline.
