Joe Reinart
Requiem mass for Joe Reinart, 99, of St. Anthony Nursing Home,
Carroll, will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday in Holy Spirit Church by
the Rev. Michael Larkin. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday at the Twit Funeral Home
in Carroll, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday and at 3
and 8 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Reinart died at 3:05 a.m. Feb. 14 at the nursing home, where
he had resided since it opened in May, 1963.
He was born at Halbur July 16, 1873, a son of Mathew and Suzanne
Friedman Reinart, and attended grade school at Halbur.
On Oct. 25, 1904, he was married to Catherine Olbertz at SS.
Peter and Paul Church in Carroll by the late Rev. Joseph Kuemper. They
came to Carroll from Halbur in 1911, and in 1913, moved to a farm a mile
and a half south of Carroll on Grant Road, where Mr. Reinart operated
Mary Hill Dairy. He was a member of Holy Spirit Church.
Mr. Reinart is survived by eight children: Mrs. Douglas (Vi)
Schleisman of Iowa City, Mrs. Wade (Isabel) Presnell of Scranton, Gene
of Davenport, LeRoy of Lanesboro, Art of Carroll, Mrs. H. L. (Lucille)
Davis of Omaha, Mrs. Edgar (Alita) Snyder of Breda and Mrs. Chet
(Lucinda) Ocken of Des Moines; also 31 grandchildren, 32
great-grandchildren; a brother, John Reinart of Manning; and two
sisters, Mrs. Mary Schneider of Holdrege, Neb., and Mrs. Liz Neu of Lindsay, Tex.
Preceding him in death were his wife, in 1949; four brothers and
three sisters.
