Susanna Reinart, Nearly 92, Dies; Services Tuesday
Aged Woman Found Dead At Home of Daughter Near Halbur
Halbur (Special) Mrs. Susanna Reinart, nearly 92 years old and
the oldest resident of this community, was found, dead in bed early this
morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Eich, southeast of here, with whom she had made her home the last two years.
The body was taken from the Kircher-Dietrich Funeral home this
afternoon to the Charles Eich home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock in St.
Augustine's church at Halbur, and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The Rev. Father Bernard Schillmoeller, pastor, will officiate at the ceremonies.
Mrs. Reinart was up and around yesterday and was in apparent good
health all winter.
Born In 1843
Mrs. Reinart, whose maiden name was Susanna Friedman, was born July 11,
1813, in Ohio, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Friedman. The family
moved to Luxemburg, Ia., when she was a girl. She was married to Matt
Reinart in Luxemburg, Ia., in June 1864, and they made their home in
Caldone, Minn., for a number of years, and in 1873 moved to Carroll
County and located on a farm one and one-half miles east of Halbur. In
1900 they sold this farm to Peter Eischeid, sr., and, they moved to the
town of Halbur.
Mr. and Mrs., Reinart, celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary in June 1914. Mr. Reinart died Aug. 14, 1920.
12 Children
They were the parents of 12 children. Five preceded their parents
in death. Three children died in infancy and Mrs. William Neu,
(Josephine) died six years ago and Nick Reinart died two years ago.
The following children survive: Mrs. Michael Reck (Lena) of Bettendorf,
Mrs. Joseph Neu (Elizabeth) of Lincy, Texas, Mrs. John Schneider (Mary)
of Funk, Neb., John Reinart of Manning, Peter Reinart and Mrs. Charles
Eich (Anna) of Halbur and Joe Reinart of south of Carroll. She also
leaves 65 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Reinart was the last of her family. A brother, Peter
Friedman of Roselle died Jan. 24 this year at the age of 76 years.

Susanna Reinart Funeral Services Conducted Today
Funeral services of Mrs. Susanna Reinart, who died at the home
of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eich, at Halbur
Saturday morning, were held this morning at 9 o'clock- at St Augustine
church at Halbur. The requiem mass was read by the Rev. Fr. Bernard
Schillmoeller. Burial was in the Halbur cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Joe Neu, Ted Neu, Henry Neu, Clarence
Reinart, Alvin Eich and Eugene Reinart.
Out-of-town people in attendance at the funeral were: Mrs.
Michael Reck of Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Neu, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Neu,
William Neu and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Neu, all of Lincy, Texas.
