A Dear Mother Is Laid To Rest
Mrs. Wm. Rennfeldt Passes Away October 4, 1929
Funeral Was Held Monday
As though it had been but yesterday, we remember when we were
assembled in like capacity, then to bid farewell and lay away all that
was mortal of husband and companion; today we pay tribute and lay to
rest the mortal remains of her who at that time felt so keenly the loss
of a loved one whom she loved and lost a while. It was just seven weeks
to the day that death separated husband and wife.
Mrs. Addie Thorp Rennfeldt was born May 3, 1865, near
Marshalltown, Iowa. When still very young, she moved with her family to
Missouri, where they resided three years. From there they moved to
Indiana, where they remained about three years. Then they moved to Sac
county, Iowa, where the decease grew to womanhood. She was a young woman
of attractive personality, who had the many traits of real womanhood.
She took the marriage vows with Mr. William Rennfeldt in the year
of 1886. Soon after they were married they moved to Holstein, where she
resided until after the death of her husband, seven weeks ago.
Three children came to bring happiness to their wedded life, two
daughters and one son. One daughter died in infancy. The remaining are:
Mrs. W. R. Bleasdell of Early, and F. W. Rennfeldt, of Collins, Iowa.
Mrs. Rennfeldt proved herself a real mother to her children who
today rise up and call her blessed. She was a real helpmate to her
husband, and a friend of all who learned to know her. For twenty years
she cared for her aged father-in-law, and for a number of years she also
gave her mother a home and care.
Some time ago it became apparent that a grave malady had impaired
her health. Medical aid and surgical help was sought and she was hopeful
of recovery, when last winter she met with another misfortune, that of a
fractured hip. Entirely dependent on the care of her loved ones and
friends, she was ministered unto even as she had ministered to others in
her former days. Her husband as well as her daughter deserve mention
here, for the unstinted love and care they gave.
Seven weeks ago she was taken to St. Anthony hospital in Carroll,
in quest of health. There she remained until three weeks ago when she
was taken to the home of her daughter in Early, where she died Oct. 4,
at 7:30 in the evening. She bade her loved ones farewell and assured
them that she was ready to go.
She leaves to mourn her death, beside the son and daughter, eight
grandchildren, Orpha, Lois, Daisy, Marie, Helen, Jean and David William
Rennfeldt, and Dean, Don and Calvin Bleasdell.
One sister, Mrs. Peter Snyder, and one brother, Frank Thorp of Early,
are also among those who mourn the loss of a loved one.
After pain and suffering and much grief during the latter days of
her life, she today is relieved from this all, and we rejoice that rest
has come at last for soul and body of this good woman. May she rest in peace.
After short services in Early at the Bleasdell home, funeral
services were held at the M. E. church in this city, Monday afternoon,
Rev. A. W. Gauger officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the
Holstein cemetery. - Contributed.
