Mrs. Rick, 77, Milan Resident, Taken by Death
Mrs. Bessie M. Rick, 77, of 319 W. 3rd St., Milan, died at
3:40 yesterday afternoon in Comfort Harbor Rest Home, Milan. Mrs. Rick
had been ailing for the past six years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon in the
Larson Funeral Home, Milan. The Rev. Clarence Gault, pastor of Milan
Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Fulton Cemetery,
Fulton. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rick, the former Bessie Farwell, was born Feb. 27, 1881, in
Garden Plain Township, a daughter of J. D. and Louisa Hill Farwell. She
moved, with her parents, as a small child to Fulton, where she was
reared and received her education. She moved in 1903, to Morrison, where
she resided for 30 years.
She moved to Milan in 1938 from Galesburg, where she had resided
for five years.
She was married Feb. 25, 1903 in Morrison to William Rick. She
was a member of Milan Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her step-mother, Mrs. Mary Farwell, two daughters,
Mrs. Chester O'Hare, Rockford, and Mrs. DuWayne Turney of Milan, with
whom she made her home; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;
three sisters, Mrs. Herman Timmons, Thomson, Mrs. Ray Stafford, Oregon
City, Ore.; and Mrs. Burt Pringle, Erie; two brothers, John of Rock
Falls and Ora of Charlotte, Iowa; three half-sisters, Mrs. Al Kraeger of
Elmhurst, Mrs. Peter Dykstra , Fulton, and Mrs. Earl Funnell of Clinton,
Iowa, and three step-brothers, William Farwell of Coleta, Ill., and Jay
and Theodore Farwell, both of Clinton.
She was preceded in death by a son.
