Glenn Ricketts
Funeral services for Glenn Ricketts, 78, of Route 1, Joy, were
held at 2 Sunday afternoon in the Reiser Funeral Chapel, Aledo, with the
Rev. Claude Moreland, pastor of the First Baptist church, Aledo,
officiating. Burial was in the Green Mound Cemetery near Keithsburg.
Mr. Rickets died at 2:18 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, in Mercer County
Hospital, Aledo.
He was born Sept. 27, 1895, in Bald Bluff Township, Henderson
County, a son of Joseph and Ada Cooper Ricketts. He attended the Mercer
County rural schools.
On Aug. 1, 1916, he was married to Mildred Waugh. She died Aug. 2, 1941.
He had farmed in the Seaton community until 1968, moving to a
farm north of Joy at that time.
He was of Methodist faith.
Surviving are five sons, Maynard of Kirkwood, Gary and Harold,
both of Aledo, Dwight of Seaton, Wilbur of Little York, two daughters,
Mrs. Enid Shaner of Biggsville and Mrs. Marion Hughes of Aledo; 21
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a
sister, Mrs. Lucille Hassler of Oak Park and two brothers, Merlin of
Aledo and Lawrence of Elgin. He was preceded in death by his wife, three
sons, two daughters and three brothers.
