Obituary
Charles Wilbur Sanders was born in Wisconsin on December 11,
1868, and passed away at the home of his son Aubrey in Early, Iowa, on
January 23, 1961, at the age of 92 years, one month and 13 days.
At the age of 14 he came to Iowa with his uncle and aunt. The
family settled near Early. Since that time he has spent his lifetime in
the Nemaha and Early communities. Growing to manhood, he farmed and dug
wells until 1955 when he retired and went to live with his son and
daughter, Aubrey and Veva Sanders, where he made his home until the time
of his death.
In 1900 he was married to Dora Thorpe of Early. To this union two
sons were born, Elmer and Aubrey, both of Early. His wife Dora preceded
him in death in June, 1928.
Mr. Sanders was a hard-working man but always had time to do kind
acts for his relatives and friends. He was a good husband and father and
his grandchildren all loved him.
He was a member of the Methodist Church at Early, later transferring to
Nemaha.
He leaves to mourn his departure his two sons, Elmer and Aubrey,
two daughters-in-law, Mildred and Veva, all of Early, six grandchildren,
Mrs. Phyllis Pardee of Meadsville, Pa., Mrs. Al Sledge of Omaha, Nebr.,
Charles Sanders of Denver, Colo., and Robert, Richard and Bill Sanders
of Early, seven great grandchildren, one brother, Jesse Sanders of
Yakima, Washington, besides many nephews, nieces, and a host of friends.
One grandson and one great grandson preceded him in death.
