Funeral Rites On Friday For Breda Resident
Mrs. Mary-Schaa Dies At Home Of Daughter In Varina
Mrs. Mary Schaa, 79, mother of Steve Vanderloo of Carroll and
a pioneer resident of Carroll County died suddenly Wednesday morning at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. Tom Eberle at Varina. Mrs. Schaa had been
ill several days with heart trouble.
The body will be brought to Breda, her former home, where funeral
services will be held at 9 o'clock Friday morning. Requiem mass will be
read by Rev. E. L. Schleyer and interment will be in the parish
cemetery. Members of the Christian Mother's society, of which she was a
member, will attend the services in a body.
Lived With Daughter
Mrs. Schaa had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Joe
Ocken of Breda and two months ago went to Varina.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1856 at Rhineland, Germany and was the
former Mary Sybilla Heinnen.
She came to Breda from Pocahontas county about 37 years ago.
Her first husband was Jacob Vanderloo. They were the parents of
three children, Steve Vanderloo of Carroll, Mrs. Peter Bannick (Mary) of
Cumberland and Mrs. Herman Kluse (Lena) of Odebolt.
Second Marriage
Her husband passed away and some time later she became the bride
of Gerhard Schaa. They had two daughters, Mrs. Joe Ocken (Delia) of
Breda and Mrs. Tom Eberle (Anna) of Varina.
Her second husband has preceded her in death.
Survivors also include two step-children, Mrs. Christina Schroeder
of Breda and Herman Schaa of Danbury and a sister, Mrs. Chris Schaben of Carroll.
Mr. and Mrs. Vanderloo, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schaben and Mr. and
Mrs. Chris Schaben, all of Carroll, will attend the funeral in Breda
Friday morning.
