Louis Schenking

Halbur

Louis Schenkelberg, an aged pioneer, passed away suddenly at his home in Halbur Thursday noon. He had been ailing for a long time having heart trouble and dropsy, but his sudden death was a shock to his many friends. He was born at Nottull, Kreis Muenster, Wesphalen, Germany, the 4th of October, 1841, and died at his home May, the first, 1913, resigned to meet God's will. He leaves to mourn his death a loving wife and four daughters: Mrs. Becker, now living in Morganville, New Jersey; Mrs. John Reinhart; Mrs. Frank Friedman, at Roselle, and Clara staying with the bereaved mother. Two daughters died in infancy. He was a retired farmer, having moved, to town nearly five years ago, to enjoy the fruits of his hard labor. The funeral was held Monday from St. Augustine's church and was largely attended.
