Marlin Schmidt
Reynolds - Marlin (Jake) Schmidt, 75, of Reynolds, died
Monday, Sept. 14, 1992, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Jinks Funeral Home,
Reynolds, the Rev. Robert Jumonville officiating.
Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
He was born May 5, 1917, in Buffalo Prairie Township, the son of
Louis and Maude Sackville Schmidt. He graduated from Rock Island High
School and attended University of Illinois. He married Ida Schmidt Jan.
3, 1945, in Ottawa.
He is a retired farmer and farmed most of his life in the
Reynolds area. He worked with Schmidt Construction along with farming
and retired as a heavy equipment operator in 1984.
As a young man he helped build Alcan Highway and Fort Richardson
Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, during World War II. He was an avid
reader and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Carol
Ziegler, and two brothers, Virgil and Duane Schmidt.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Schmidt of Reynolds; three
daughters, Mrs. Sharon Curtis of Milan, Mrs. Nadine Liberatore of
Springfield and Bonita Paulsen of Davenport; one son, Brian Schmidt of
Reynolds; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers,
Bernard Schmidt of Aledo, Stanley Schmidt of Phoenixville, PA and Larry
Schmidt of Mt. Zion; and five sisters, Mrs. Gloryl Parchert of Aledo,
Mrs. Elizabeth Beauchamp of Rock Island, Mrs. Desyl Neel of Wrightwood,
CA, Dr. Ramona Schmidt of Springfield and Mrs. Karen Snowden of West Chicago.
