Mildred Schmidt
Mildred M. Schmidt, 100, died November 26, 2000, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fippinger Funeral Home,
Aledo. The Rev. John Hafermann of Zion Lutheran Church, Edgington, will
officiate. Burial is in Aledo Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where
memorials may be left for Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a member.
She was born Sept. 27, 1900, in Coal Valley, a daughter of James
and Elizabeth Adams Sackville. She attended Coal Valley schools and
married Edward Schmidt Feb. 20, 1920, in Muscatine.
They farmed in the Edgington area for 17 years before moving to
Aledo, where they farmed east of town until his death in 1963.
She is survived by five daughters and three sons-in-law, Eileen
Bivens and Eleanor Bigham, both of Aledo, Genevieve and William Parchert
and Judy and Ronnie Bieri, all of Illinois City, and Virginia and James
Padesky, Moline; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Schmidt, Aledo; 23
grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Her parents; her husband; a daughter, Kathleen DeSchepper; a son, Vaughn
Schmidt; a great-granddaughter, Debbie Anderson; three sisters, and two
brothers preceded her in death.
