Helene Schneider
Former Viola Woman Dies in Evanston
Miss Helene Schneider, 31 years old, formerly of Viola, died
Tuesday, Dec. 22, at midnight at the St. Francis hospital, Evanston,
following a few days illness as a result of a boil on her temple which
infected the brain.
Miss Schneider, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schneider, was born Nov.
16, 1900 at the family home west of Viola. She was graduated from the
Viola high school with the class of 1918 and clerked for a year at the
H. E. Woods store in Viola.
She taught school in Mercer county for several years and then
took a three year nurse's training course at the St. Francis hospital,
graduating the first of this year, and has since worked in the hospital
until her illness.
She is survived by her parents, a brother, Louis Schneider,
Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Leahigh, Galesburg; Mrs. Lewis Mack,
Rock Island; and Miss Mary, also a nurse at St. Francis hospital,
Evanston.
Miss Schneider was a member of the St. John's Catholic church of
Viola. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
