William Schon Sr.
William Schon Sr., 78, of Route 1, Carroll, died at 6 p.m.
Sunday, June 6, at St. Anthony Hospital, where he had been a patient for
about a week. He was a retired farmer.
Requiem mass will be read at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in SS. Peter and
Paul Church; and interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Willey.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Monday at the Twit Funeral Home, where the
rosary will be recited at 8 and 9 p.m. Monday and at 3, 8 and 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Schon, son of John and Marie Thielen Schon, was born May 22,
1887, at Exira. He received his education at Exira; and when he was 15
years old, moved to the Glidden - Carroll area, where he lived for some
50 years. For the past five years he has lived on Route 1. His marriage
to Anna Mersman took place at Halbur on Feb. 14, 1911, with the Rev. Fr.
Baumler officiating. He was a member of Holy Spirit parish.
Surviving are his wife; seven sons, Andrew, Carroll; Joseph,
Dedham; Sil, Des Moines; William Jr., Leo and Louis, Glidden; and
Robert, Carroll; 21 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and one
brother, Michael, Carroll. He was preceded in death by one son, Norbert,
a brother and two sisters.
