Mary Scott Funeral Here Daughter of Patrick
Conway Succumbs After Illness of Several Months Funeral
services for Mrs. Mary Scott, Daughter of Patrick Conway of northeast of
Aledo, were held Saturday morning, February 17, in St. Catherine's
church, Aledo, with Rev. John T. Shields celebrating the requiem mass.
Mrs. Scott, who was 35 years old, died at the Conway home at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, February 14, 1940, after an illness extending over several months.
The rosary was recited at the Sloan Funeral home Thursday evening.
Mrs. Scott was born September 28, 1904, in Perryton township
north of Aledo, attended Aledo high school and Immaculate Conception
academy in Davenport. For more than 12 years she was employed in the
office of the attorney general in Springfield, taking leave of absence
over a year ago because of failing health.
Survivors are her father; four brothers William of New York, Dr.
Martin E. of Riverside, Vincent and J. M. of Aledo and four sisters,
Miss Virginia of Aledo, Miss Philomena of Riverside, Mrs. T. L. Keeler
of Philadelphia, Pa., and Miss Julia of Springfield.
Serving as pallbearers at the services were Frank Jackowitz and
Eugene P. Conley of Chicago; Thomas and James Conway of Reynolds; John
A. Hickey of St. Louis and R. W. Horan of Preemption.
Internment was in St. Joseph's cemetery in Preemption.
