M. Sheridan, 87 dies Tuesday
Mrs. Margaret T. (Madge) Sheridan, 87, of Creston, died at the
Greater Community hospital at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. She had been ill for three weeks.
Mrs. Sheridan was a retired registered nurse. She had lived all of her
life in Union county and had lived in Creston since 1940. She was a
graduate of the old Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in Creston.
Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception
worship center at the Holy Spirit Catholic parish. Rev. Frs. Arthur
McCann and Vincent Rosonke will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary
cemetery. The Holy Spirit Altar Society will hold a Rosary Service at 3
p.m., Thursday and a parish rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.,
Thursday, both at the Coen funeral home.
Her family said a memorial fund has been established for the Calvary
Cemetery Association. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
Margaret T. McCann was born in Union county, March 19, 1889. She was the
daughter of James E. and Mary Catherine Murphy McCann. She was married
at Creston, Jan. 17, 1927, to Edward W. Sheridan, who preceded her in
death Feb. 23, 1942.
Mrs. Sheridan is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ken (Kay) Drey of
Creston and Mrs. S. S. (Ellen Jean) Martel of Newport, R.I.; three
grandsons and three granddaughters; a brother, Leonard P. McCann of
Creston; and a sister Mrs. Phil (Mayme) Jones of Tacoma, Wash.
She had retired from nursing in 1965. She was active in the Red Cross
blood program after her retirement.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic parish, the Nurses Alumnae,
the Greater Community Hospital Auxiliary, the Catholic Daughters of
America, St. Anne's Society and the Holy Spirit Altar Society.
