Charles Shike
Funeral services for Charles Merlin Shike, 60, Seaton, were
held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, in the Hoover Memorial Chapel in
Monmouth. The Rev. Dallas Lankford, pastor of the Belmont United
Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Belmont Church.
Mr. Shike died at 12:30 Monday afternoon, Oct. 14, at University
Hospitals in Iowa City.
A son of Charles and Sarah Morehead Shike, he was born Jan. 1,
1914, at Seaton and spent his early life in the Seaton community.
He was married to Bernice Ranney Dec. 29, 1936, at Little York
and their entire married life was spent on a farm near Belmont.
Mr. Shike was a member of the Belmont Church and the Seaton
Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Lee of
Kirkwood; two sons, Charles of Galesburg and Gerald of Northsville,
Mich.; eight grandchildren; a brother, Everett of Maywood and two
sisters, Mrs. Frank Hood, Jr., of Seaton and Mrs. Paul Gise of Daytona Beach, Fla.
