Anna M. Snyder
Mass of the Christian burial for Anna M. Snyder of Breda will
be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2000, at St. Bernard Church in Breda.
Mrs. Snyder, 96, died Thursday, June 1, at Carroll Health Center.
The Rev. James Smith will preside at the Mass.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Lector will be Elaine Wiese. Gift bearers will be Julius and
Kenneth Snyder. Eucharistic minister will be Clair Snyder.
Casket bearers will be Carl Snyder, Dick Oswald, Gene Derner, Tim
Snyder, Bob Feldmann and Jack Grote. The Breda American Legion post will
give military honors.
Visitation starts at 2:30 and the St. Bernard Ladies Guild will
lead a rosary at 3 Sunday afternoon at Sharp Funeral Home in Breda. St.
Bernard Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 7 Sunday night at
the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the
Alzheimer's Association.
A daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth (Rauch) Grote, she was born
Aug. 22, 1903, at Varina, Iowa. The family moved to Breda when she was
young and later moved to a farm west of Mount Carmel. She attended Our
Lady of Mount Carmel School.
She and Cyril Snyder were married Jan. 17, 1928, at St. Bernard
Church in Breda.
The Snyders farmed northeast of Breda and moved to a farm
southwest of Breda in 1935. They retired and moved into town in 1971.
Mrs. Snyder was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Ladies Guild,
and the Breda American Legion Auxiliary. She made rosaries for Catholic
foreign missions and enjoyed bingo, quilting, tatting, gardening and flowers.
Survivors include five, children and their spouses: Vera and Earl
Kennebeck of Carroll, Clair and Myrna Snyder of Breda, Elaine and Virgil
Wiese of Council Bluffs, Julius and Marcia Snyder of Winchester, Mass.,
and Kenneth and Janice Snyder of Breda; 21 grandchildren; 33
great-grandchildren; and the following siblings-in-law: Colette Grote of
Carroll; Edgar and Alita Snyder of Breda and Edith Leonard of Berwyn, Ill.
Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
Cyril, in November 1972; a brother, Herman Grote; and four sisters:
Laura Oswald, Agnes Stork, Marguerite Derner and Christine Snyder.
