Mrs. Etteine Spenler, 83, dies Saturday: funeral on Tuesday
Mrs. Etteine Spenler, 83, of 316 East Van Buren Street died
Saturday, April 13, 1974 in Pleasantview Home at Kalona. She had been
ill for five months.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Jones Funeral
Home here with the Rev. Leland Grove and the Rev. Elmer Baker in charge.
Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Etteine Swift was born in Washington County, June 22, 1890, a
daughter of George T. and Phoebe Arvilla Lindsey Swift. She was reared
in the Pleasant Hill community and married here June 25, 1908 to Charles
S. Keating who preceded her in death. She married Chris Spenler Sept. 2,
1926 and he also preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church for many
years and later joined the First Christian Church here.
Surviving are one son, Claire S. Keating of Washington; one
daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Vera) McCreedy of Washington; one brother, Art
Swift of Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Schneider and Mrs.
Dale (Gertrude) Darbyshire, both of Washington; two half-sisters: Mrs.
Wilbur (Louise) Harter of Washington and Mrs. Lydia Kane of West Branch.
Also surviving are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Two sons, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
