Mass of the Christian burial for Elvira Sporrer of Glidden
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at St. Elizabeth
Seton Catholic Church in Glidden.
Mrs. Sporrer died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at St. Anthony Regional
Hospital in Carroll.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at Dahn and Woodhouse
Funeral Home in Glidden, where there will be a 3:30 p.m. rosary and
Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Elvira Sporrer
Mass of the Christian burial for Elvira Sporrer will be at
10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic
Church in Glidden.
Mrs. Sporrer, 85, of Glidden, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, at St.
Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Father Peter Due Nguyen will celebrate the Mass. Lector will be
Gary Schon. Gift bearers will be Sheila Loneman, Amy Thobe, Gail Thobe,
Tina Snyder and Dawn Sporrer.
Casket bearers will be Don Loneman, Mike Cale, Scott Cale, Tommy
Reinart, Alvie Reinart and Merlin Reinart.
Burial will be at Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery at Glidden.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral
Home in Glidden. Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. and there will be a
Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Born Feb. 28, 1916, at Austin, Minn., she was a daughter of John
and Emma (Shanking) Reinart. As a young girl she lived in Manning and
attended school there.
She was married to John Sporrer on Oct. 26, 1942, by Father
Rotert at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning.
The couple lived in the Carroll area until 1965 then moved to Glidden.
She worked for Deluxe Cleaners, Ocoma Foods and the Glidden Egg Plant.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church and the
American Legion Auxiliary.
Mrs. Sporrer is survived by her husband, John, of Glidden; a son,
Romayne Sporrer, of Glidden; two daughters, Julie Cale and her husband,
Frank, of Carroll and Geri Thobe and her husband, Larry, of Audubon; 10
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Reinart and
his wife, Geri, of Florida, and Leo Reinart and his wife, Ruth, of Sioux
City; a sister-in-law, Ann Hacker, of Manning; and a daughter-in-law,
Kathy Sporrer, of Glidden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Louise
Sporrer; a son, Paul Sporrer; a sister, Cletta Hoffman; and five
brothers: Clarence, Hilbert, Harold and two in infancy.

Survivors of Elvira Sporrer include a daughter Geri Thobe and
her husband, Larry, of Auburn. Their hometown was incorrectly reported
