Lawrence Anthony Sporrer
Manning - Lawrence Anthony Sporrer, 65, of rural Manning, died
Friday morning, Aug. 20, 1993, at Manning General Hospital following a
debilitating illness.
Mass of the Christian burial for Mr. Sporrer was held at 10:30
this morning, Monday, Aug. 23, 1993, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning
with the Revs. Ralph Reinhart and Randy Schon as concelebrants.
Honorary casket bearers were Roger Eischeid, Gene Rohe, Bob Tank,
Melvin Renze, Wayne Justice, John Frees, Jack Lorenzen, Dick Hansen and
Roy Struve. Casket bearers were Jeff Halbur, Louie Andresen, Steve Tank,
Russell Spies, Irwin Grau, Elmer Herbers, Ronald Hodne and Ervin Pauley Jr.
Lector was David Schon. Gift bearers were Theresa, Julie and Sarah Treinen.
Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning.
Ohde Funeral Home of Manning handled the arrangements.
He was born Jan. 1, 1928, at Carroll, a son of Frank X. and Clara
(Kemper) Sporrer, and attended school at Templeton.
He and Mildred Eich were married May 5, 1949, at St Augustine
Church in Halbur- and settled on a farm one mile east of Manning.
Mr. Sporrer was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning and in
earlier years held membership in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed
raising cattle and attended many cattle sales.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred, of Manning; eight children,
Patricia Treinen and her husband, Richard, of Sioux City, Marilyn
Tillman and her husband, Nolan, of Rochester, N.Y., Alice Sporrer of
LeMars, Donna Sporrer of Carroll, Larry Sporrer of Florida, Lynn Sporrer
of Manning, Loran Sporrer of Manning and Jennifer Sporrer of Carroll;
five grandchildren; two sisters, Inez Oblinger and her husband, Owen, of
Churdan, and Dorothy Schon and her husband. Louis, of Glidden; and a
brother, Vernice "Sprig" Sporrer, and his wife, Evelyn, of Templeton.
Mr. Sporrer was preceded in death by his parents.
