Shirley St. John
Shirley J. St. John, 78, a resident of Arbor Court Nursing
Home, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, formerly of Milan, died Monday, Dec. 17,
2007, at the Henry County Health Center, Mount Pleasant.
Services for Mrs. St. John will be 11 a.m. Friday at the
Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be
one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the
National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.
Shirley was born Sept. 3, 1929, in Moline, the daughter of
Marquis E. and Evelyn E. Hall-Schneider. She married Charles J. St. John
on July 6, 1948, in Rock Island; he preceded his wife in death on Oct. 7, 2003.
Mrs. St. John was a homemaker, and in early years she had worked
as a waitress for various restaurants in Milan.
Mrs. St. John loved to cook as a hobby and also enjoyed crocheting,
reading, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and cats.
Survivors include a son and wife, Steven and Karen St. John,
Viola; daughter, Jenean Davis, Wapello, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; several
great-grandchildren; sisters, Karen Verschoore, Taylor Ridge, Kathryn
Tapscott, Geneseo, and Sandra Crawford, Coal Valley. Mrs. St. John was
preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chuck; and a son, Terry St. John.
