Marie Stark
Marie Stark, 100, of Carroll died Saturday, Oct. 7, 1995, at
St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian burial for Mrs. Stark will be at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with Father Richard
Remmes officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery at Carroll.
Lector for the Mass will be Jane Snyder. Petitions will be read
by Patricia Louis and Susan
Northey. The communion meditation will be delivered by Patrick Neppl.
Eucharistic minister will be Sister Bernyne Stark. Gift bearers will be
Chris and Shara Snyder and Amanda Jo Neppl.
Casket bearers will be Patrick Neppl, Daniel Snyder, Kurt Reser, Joe
Schumacher, Nancy Schumacher and Tom Louis.
Visitation began at 2:30 p.m. today at Sharp Funeral Home in
Carroll, where a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m., a prayer service will
be held at 4 p.m. by the Franciscan Sisters and a parish Christian wake
service will be at 7:30 p.m. today.
Memorials may be left at the funeral home for the Knights of
Columbus Rosary Foundation.
Born April 7, 1895, at Halbur, she was a daughter of Michael and
Magdalene (Reinert) Reck. She spent her younger years in Halbur and
attended St. Augustine Schools. She then worked in Halbur and Manning.
On Oct. 1, 1918, she married Frank A. "Betty" Stark in
Omaha, Neb. They lived in Carroll. Following her husband's death, Mrs.
Stark was employed as a seamstress for the JCPenney Co. and the former
Ellerbroeck's Store in Carroll, retiring in 1963. Mrs. Stark has been a
resident of St. Anthony Nursing Home since March 1994.
Mrs. Stark was a longtime member of the former St. Joseph Parish
in Carroll and a current member of Holy Spirit Parish, Parish Ladles
Guild and the Legion of Mary. She was a Retired and Senior Volunteer
Program volunteer and an avid card player.
Survivors include three daughters: Sister Bernyne (Myra) Stark,
FSPA, of La Crosse, Wis., Norma F. Pietig of Carroll and Mary Ann Neppl
of Halbur; seven grandchildren: Donald Pietig of Lake Havasu City,
Ariz., Susan Northey and her husband, Scott, of Roswell, Ga., Nancy
Schumacher and her husband, Joe, of Ankeny, Patricia Louis and her
husband, Tom, of Carroll, Jane Snyder and her husband, Daniel, of
Carroll, Patrick Neppl of Ankeny and Jeanne Reser and her husband, Kurt,
of Audubon; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, George Reck and his
wife, Barb, of Black Canyon City, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank, in
1941; three brothers; two sisters; two sons-in-law: Franklin Pietig and
Lawrence Neppl; and a granddaughter, Anne Marie Neppl.
