Royal Stephens
Funeral services for Royal William Stephens, 77, of Park
Rapids, MN, formerly of Aledo, were held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at the
Jones-Behrens Funeral Chapel, Park Rapids. The Rev. Allan Oman
officiated. Burial was in Lake George Cemetery.
Mr. Stephens died Saturday, Feb. 2, 1985 at St. Joseph's
Hospital, Park Rapids.
He was born April 14, 1907 in Aledo, the son of William and Rose
Stephens. He was reared and educated in Aledo.
He married Ida Wats Feb. 17, 1945 in Sisseton, SD.
The couple spent most of their years in St. Charles, IL, where he
worked as a machinist until his retirement in 1956. The couple also
owned and operated the Sleepy Hollow Resort on Lake George which they
operated until 1975.
He is survived by two sons, Glenn Stephens, Cincinnati, OH and
William Olson, State University, AR; one daughter, Mrs. Clifford
(Sandra) Mann, Gilbert, MN; two brothers, Clarence Stephens and George
Stephens, both of Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Stephens and Mrs.
Grace Patterson, both of Aledo; six grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
