Jennie Paul Sullivan
Mrs. Jennie Paul Sullivan died at noon today at the home of
her son, Claude Paul, in this city. She was suddenly stricken at the
Earl Reed home, where she was employed as housekeeper. Her malady was
diabetes. Mr. Reed went home from his work last evening and found Mrs.
Paul lying unconscious on the rear porch of the place. A physician was
summoned at once and the lady taken to the home of her son, Pat. She
never regained consciousness, except to show a few symptoms of life
twice during the night. The end came today. The funeral services will be
conducted from the home Friday afternoon by Rev. E. S. Mencher, pastor
of the local Methodist church, and burial will be made in Oak Hill
cemetery, south of town.
The deceased lady was born Jennie Page, on a farm four mile east
of Lenox, August 19, 1876. At the time of her death, she was aged 52
years, and one month. Practically all of her life was spent in this
neighborhood. She was married September 6, 1893, in Corning, to George
H. Paul and to them were born four children, all of whom survive their
mother. The husband died some years ago. The children are Mrs. Frank
Swain, Casper, Wyo., Claude A. Paul, Corning; Mrs. C. L. Pederson,
Casper, Wyo., and W. F. Paul, Corning; In addition, the lady leaves her
aged mother, Mrs. George Page, of Lenox, eight grandchildren, three
sisters and a brother. The latter are: Mrs. Mart Hayes, Lenox; Mrs.
Arthur Nichols, Orient; Mrs. William Steinkamp, Clear Lake, Iowa, and
Ham Page, of Ottawa, Kans. The daughters, from Wyoming are in Corning at
the present time.
The deceased lady has been suffering from diabetes for some time,
and gradually failing; but the end came very suddenly and unexpectedly
for her loved ones, to whom she devoted herself. She was a kind hearted
sympathetic woman who worked hard and got much satisfaction in doing
kindly deeds for those whom she esteemed.
