| John "Jack" Surr
John "Jack" Surr, 68, of Victoria, Ill., died
Thursday, June 27, 2002, at his home.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church,
Matherville, where he was a member. Burial is in St. John's Cemetery, Viola.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Family Funeral Services,
Viola, with a rosary recited there at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to
the Cancer Fund.
He was born March 10, 1934, in Rock Island, the son of John and
Mary Basala Surr. He married Barbara Thurman Dec. 31, 1997, in Rock Island.
He worked for John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1994 as a
union committeeman.
He served in the Army.
He was a member of the Elks and Croatian Club. He enjoyed golf,
fishing and traveling.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara; daughter, Stephanie Surr,
Matherville; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Nancy Surr and Darin
and Lynn Surr, all of Matherville; grandson, Taylor Surr; stepchildren,
Kim Hernandez, San Diego, Calif., and Timothy Palmer, Champaign, Ill.;
and sister, Marsha Edwards, Matherville.
