Swift Funeral To Be Held Thursday
Services Tomorrow At St. James Church-Burial At Elm Grove
Funeral services for Mrs. John T. Swift, who died yesterday
afternoon at her home, southeast of town, will be held at nine o'clock
Thursday morning at the St. James Catholic Church.
Rev. M. J. Hartigan will have charge of the services which will
be followed by burial in Elm Grove cemetery.
Jessie Ellen Reeves was born in this community October 14, 1873,
a daughter of William S. Reeves and Mary Dawson Reeves. She was married
to John T. Swift December 6, 1892, and to them were born nine children,
of whom six are living. Two died in infancy and one at age of five
years. The children are Francis B. of Chicago, Mrs. Hazel Westen of this
community, Patrick H. and Jesse H. of Gray, Ind., Mrs. Dorothea Lowe of
Washington, John Clyde and Charles Thomas, both deceased, James Terry at
home and Iona Philomena, deceased.
Mrs. Swift is also survived by her mother, of Washington, and two
brothers and three sisters, Charles Reeves of Brighton, John Reeves of
Havre community, Mrs. Annie Hamilton of Brighton, Mrs. Charles Anderson
of the Pleasant Hill neighborhood and Mrs. Daisy Van Sant of Brighton.
She had been in poor health for several years, and of late her
condition had grown more serious. Death occurred yesterday afternoon at
about one o'clock. Mrs. Swift was a member of the St. James Catholic
church and a woman who enjoyed the friendship and esteem of many.
