Bryan Swift of Ainsworth Dies
Bryan Swift, 66, died this morning at the Veterans Hospital in
Iowa City. He had lived 3 1/2 miles northeast of Ainsworth.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Jones
Funeral Home with the Rev. Carlyle Smith in charge. Burial is to be in
the Elm Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Swift was born Nov. 11, 1896, in Washington County a son of
George T. and Arvilla Lindsay Swift. He was reared and educated in
Washington County and on Dec. 19, 1919, was married to Ethel Leota Caldwell.
He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church. The
veteran of World War I had been a farmer most of his life.
Survivors include his widow; 12 children, Lawrence of Washington,
Mrs. Keith (Esther) Houseal of Richland, Dr. George Swift of Ft.
Madison, Charles of Washington, Marian of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Raymond
(Doris) Sojka of Washington, Mrs. Alfred (Jean) Fritz of Washington,
Mrs. Clifford (Wanda) Fritz of Brighton, Mrs. Merritt (Edith) Wellington
of Washington, William of Washington, Mrs. Dale (Martha) Hawkins of
Tipton, Mrs. Douglas (Annette) Chapupa of Washington; 33 grandchildren;
four sisters, Mrs. Etteine Spenler, Mrs. Howard Wittrig, Mrs. Carl
Schneider, Mrs. Dale Darbyshire, all of Washington; one brother, Arthur
Swift of Washington; two half-sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Harter and Mrs.
Arthur Kane, both of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, a sister, and a brother.
