June D. Thorpe
June Dorothy Thorpe, 74, of Lake View died Wednesday, July 7,
1993, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thorpe were Saturday, July 10, 1993. at
Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View with the Rev. Marcia Sangel officiating.
Casket bearers were Tim Wilson, Bob Wilson, Lloyd Hansen, Jack
McConnell, David Peterson and Ken Bromley.
Burial was at Early Union Cemetery in Early, Iowa.
Mrs. Thorpe was born April 24, 1919, at Odebolt, Iowa, a daughter
of Earl and Laura (Moor) McFarland. She was educated at Odebolt Grade
and High Schools.
On Nov. 13. 1955, she and Sherman E. Thorpe were married at
Maryville, Mo. The couple lived in Lake View and Mrs. Thorpe was a homemaker.
She also worked as a waitress at several cafes in Odebolt and Lake View.
Mrs. Thorpe enjoyed traveling, decorating her home and making ceramics.
Survivors include her husband, Sherman E. Thorpe, of Lake View;
two daughters. Shelly (Mrs. Robert) Wilson of Denison, and Verna (Mrs.
Rick) Heitzig, of Reedsport, Ore.; six grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Louise Rabe of New Athens, Ill.,
and Elaine Gray of Tempe, Ariz.
Mrs. Thorpe was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Laura
McFarland; and two brothers. Earl McFarland, Jr., and Tillman McFarland.
