Leslie L. Thorpe
Leslie Lyle Thorpe, 76, of 1542 Pennsylvania Ave. died of
emphysema Wednesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital after an illness of a month.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Hamilton's Funeral Home,
with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Thorpe, a retired mechanic, was born at Early and lived in
Des Moines most of his life. He was a member of the Decatur Masonic
Lodge at Decatur city.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline; five sons, Ray, Jack and Jerry,
all of Des Moines, Dale of Peoria, Ill., and Byron of Cedar Rapids; a
daughter, Mrs. Lyla Alms of Grimes; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Adeline
Hoffman, Mrs. Jean Stanley and Mrs. Judy Boat, all of Des Moines, and
Mrs. Shirley Myers of Paso Robles, Calif.; a stepson, Charles Lambert of
Burbank, Calif.; three brothers, Merrill of Lake View, Lamont of
Winterset and Roland of Corydon, 33 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Iowa Heart Association.
