Roland Thorpe
Carnarvon - Roland Thorpe, 81, of Carnarvon, died Friday, Nov.
14, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake after a long Illness.
Funeral services were held this morning at Emmanuel Presbyterian
Church in Carnarvon with the Rev. Donald W. Gibson officiating. Burial
was at the Carnarvon cemetery. Casketbearers were Brad Thorpe, Gary
Thorpe, Terry Intveld, Sherman Thorpe, Gerald Adams and Eugene Boeckman.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Carnarvon; one daughter,
Delphine [Mrs. Darrell] Borron of Aurora, Colo.; two sons, Denzel Thorpe
of Nemaha and Douglas Thorpe of Sac City, 14 grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren, and one brother, Lamont Thorpe of Winterset.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Roland Thorpe; one
great-grandson, Brandon Borron; four brothers, Lyle, Lee, Merrill and
Francis; three sisters, Agnes, Mae and Lilly, and his parents.
A son of Frank and Tresa Snyder Thorpe, he was born May 12, 1905,
at Early. He married Helen Mason on Jan. 18, 1932, at Omaha, Neb. He was
a heavy-equipment operator in the construction business. The Thorpes
have lived In Carnarvon for 54 years.
