Joseph Tigges
Joseph Tigges, 79, of 206 South Clark Street, Carroll,
suffered a heart attack while walking home Friday afternoon, May 2, and
was dead upon arrival at St. Anthony Hospital.
Requiem mass will be read at 11 a.m. Monday in SS. Peter and Paul
Church in Carroll with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Dedham. Friends
may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 7 p.m. Saturday. The
rosary will be recited Saturday at 8 and 8:45 p.m. and Sunday at 3, 8
(parish) and 8:45 p.m.
Mr. Tigges was born Dec. 21, 1889, at Willey, a son of Frank and Mary
Tigges. He spent his youth in the Dedham vicinity and on April 30, 1912,
was married to Ann Brauckman at St. Joseph Church, Dedham, by the late
Rev. C. H. Huelshorst. The couple spent the first, two years after their
marriage in Carroll and then moved to a farm in the Dedham area, living
there until retiring and moving to the present residence in Carroll in
1956. Mr. Tigges was a member of Holy Spirit parish and the Holy Name Society.
Surviving are his wife; eight children including Leonard, Arthur,
and Mrs. Adelbert (Martina) Irlbeck of Dedham; Mrs. Raymond (Alma)
Klocke, Templeton; Aldred and Donald R., Carroll; Edward of Coon Rapids
and Joseph of Gray; also 42 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; one
brother, Frank Tigges, Dedham; and two sisters, Sr. M. Lucentia of
LaCrosse, Wis., and Mrs. John Werner, Carroll.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lillian; three
brothers and one sister.
