Titterington George
Funeral services were held at St. Catherine's Catholic church,
Aledo, on Monday morning for George Titterington, age 65. Father J. T.
Shields officiated.
George Amaziah, son of Amaziah and Louise Titterington, was born
in Edgington town on August 8, 1871, and past away at College View
hospital in Aledo on April 24. He had suffered intensely thru a
three-week illness of heart trouble.
In March 1897, he was married to Miss Katherine McCarthy of
Perryton and the couple lived on different farms in Rock island and
Mercer counties. Thru the last 30 years the home had been made in
Perryton, southwest of Reynolds.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Edna Olin of Burgess, Mrs.
Mary Spurgeon of Prairie City, Mrs. Nora Gilbert of Rock Island and Miss
Margaret at home; two sons, John and Daniel of Perryton; ten
grandchildren whom he love most dearly; two brothers, John of Pekin,
Iowa and Arthur N. of Davenport; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Lloyd of
Rock Island, Mrs. Libby Fountaine and Mrs. Annie Vanatta of near
Illinois City and Mrs. Ivy Foster of Preemption.
George was a good, kind neighbor, always ready to give a helping
hand in time of need. He will be greatly missed by his friends and
neighbors.
