Alma Uuderberg-Debourgh
Mass of the Christian burial for Alma Underberg-DeBourgh will
be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale.
Mrs. Underberg-DeBourgh, 82, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at
Orchard View Apartments in Carroll. Father Merlin Schrad will preside at the services.
Lectors for the Mass will be Brenda Langholdt and Roxie Steinkamp.
Gift bearers will be Brandi Stormer, Shannon Underberg, Beth Underberg,
Michelle Bauman and Lisa Sargent. Mass servers will be Ricky and Bo Bruning.
Casket bearers will be Lyle Schleisman, Louis Tigges, Bill Stork,
Neil Kanne, Jack Olerich and Neil Bock.
Burial will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Mount Carmel.
Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. today, Sept. 6, at Sharp
Funeral Home in Carroll. Rosary by the Holy Family Altar Society will be
recited at 3 p.m. and there will be a Christian wake service by the
parish at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born May 23, 1918, at Ivanhoe, Minn., she was a daughter of Ben
and Rose (Brune) Bruning. At a young age she moved with her family to
the Breda community where she attended country school and St. Bernard Schools.
She married Augustine Underberg on July 1, 1942, at St. Bernard
Church in Breda.
Mr. Underberg died in 1969.
She married Russell DeBourgh on May 22, 1970, at St. Bernard
Church. Mr. DeBourgh died in 1985.
She spent her married life in the Breda, Mount Carmel, and most
recently, Lidderdale communities.
She did domestic work for several families in the Carroll area
and also was employed by Crouse Allied Van Lines of Carroll.
She was a member of Holy Family Parish and the Parish Ladies
Guild and was active in parish activities.
She enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening and gambling.
Mrs. Underberg-DeBourgh is survived by five sons, Tom Underberg
and his wife, JoAnn, of Carroll, Jake Underberg and his wife; Mary, of
Carroll, Ted Underberg and his wife, Kathy, of Breda, Mike
"Spike" Underberg and^his wife, Marilyn, of Templeton and
Harlan Underberg and his wife, Paula, of Lidderdale; one daughter, Judy
Stormer, and her husband, Bill, of Coon Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 11
step-grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
two brothers, Merlin "Mike" Bruning and his wife, Pat, of
Carroll and Larry Bruning and his wife, Joan," of Carroll; a
sister, lone Beyer, of Carroll; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Bruning, of Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a grandchild,
Robert John Underberg; a daughter-in-law, Donna Underberg; and two
brothers, Aaron and Raymond Bruning.
