Donald L. Verschoore, 69, of Milan, died Tuesday, Sept. 20,
2005, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic
Church, Milan. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home,
Milan, where a Christian wake service will be held at 4 p.m. In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be made to the Alleman High School Sports
Department, Pathway Hospice or to a favorite charity.
Mr. Verschoore was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Rock Island, a son of
Arthur and Loretta McManus Verschoore. He married Karen L. Schneider
June 19, 1954, in Milan.
Don was a graduate of Alleman High School, Rock Island. He farmed
and was an oil distributor in the Quad-Cities area.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, and the
Rock Island Moose. Don loved to play euchre, go fishing, watch sports
and go to Las Vegas.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; children (and spouses), Vicki
(Dan) Weller, Edgington, Mark (Doe) Verschoore, Moline, Scott Verschoore,
Reynolds, Lori Montgomery, Taylor Ridge, Michele (Darrell) Day, Rock
Island, Colleen Verschoore, Taylor Ridge, Collette (Ken) Maranda, Milan;
five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Bell,
Rock Island; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Jackie Verschoore,
Geneseo, Paul and Virginia Verschoore, Taylor Ridge, Daniel and Sharon
Verschoore, Moline and Patrick and Charlene Verschoore, Milan. He was
preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean McGinnis Maloney.
