James Verschoore
James E. Verschoore, 43, of Blue Grass, died Saturday, Nov.
12, 2005, at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew
Catholic Church, Blue Grass. Burial is in the Blue Grass Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the church, where a Christian wake
service will be held at 8 p.m. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, is
in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the church, the
Handicapped Development Center, Davenport, or to an education fund for his sons.
Jim was born Sept. 7, 1962, in Atlanta, Ga., the son of Paul and
Virginia Troxler Verschoore. He graduated from Rockridge High School. He
married Cindy Groothaert July 13, 1984, in Milan.
Jim was the plant manager of the Scott Area Recycling Center,
Davenport. He previously worked for the Davenport Community Schools.
He was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church and the Blue
Grass Knights of Columbus Council 13108. Jim was a member of the Blue
Grass Volunteer Fire Department and served a term on the Blue Grass City
Council. He enjoyed playing Rat Race with his friends, Lonnie and Lynett.
Jim loved his family; he was a devoted husband, father, son and brother.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy; sons, Jason and Jonathan, both
at home; parents, Paul and Virginia Verschoore, Taylor Ridge; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Paula and Tim Hahn, Milan, Diana and Mike Zug, East
Moline, Cathy and Brad Gingerich, Taylor Ridge; several nieces and
nephews; mother-in-law, Nancy Harvey; father-in-law, Henry Groothaert;
and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by a
nephew, Braden Gingerich, and his grandparents.
