Paul Verschoore
Paul E. Verschoore, 73, of Taylor Ridge, died Saturday, Dec.
16, 2006, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a
courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic
Church, Milan. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, where
American Legion Posts 569 and 200 and V.F.W. Post 1303 will present
military honors. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral
Home, Milan. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or to
Trinity Pathway Hospice.
Paul was born Nov. 29, 1933, in Rock Island, a son of Arthur and
Loretta (McManus) Verschoore. He married Virginia Troxler April 27,
1957, in Pinehurst, N.C.
He retired in 1992 from John Deere Davenport Works, where he was
a forklift driver. He was currently working at Blackhawk State Bank, Milan.
Paul was U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving
from 1953 - 1957. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan
and the Milan American Legion Post 569. He was a devoted husband and
father and loved Sunday morning breakfasts with his family. Paul also
enjoyed going to Las Vegas with his family and visiting the riverboats.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law,
Paula and Tim Hahn, Milan, Diana and Mike Zug, East Moline, Cathy and
Brad Gingerich, Taylor Ridge; daughter-in-law, Cindy Verschoore, Blue
Grass; grandchildren, Christopher and Beth Franks, Amy Hahn, Jessica
Smith, Beth and Barbie Zug, Jason and Jonathan Verschoore and Billy and
Carrie Gingerich; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Bell, Rock
Island; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Jackie Verschoore,
Geneseo, Daniel and Sharon Verschoore, Moline, Patrick and Charlene
Verschoore, Milan; sister-in-law, Karen Verschoore, Milan and
brother-in-law, Tom Maloney, Rock Island. He was preceded in death by
his son, James Verschoore; grandson, Braden Gingerich; his parents;
sister, Jean McGinnis Maloney; and brother, Donald Verschoore.
