Hubert U. Walker dies here Monday

  Hubert Urban Walker, 72, former member of the city council in Washington and Railroad Express agent here for 46 years, died Monday, April 16, 1973 in the long term care unit at the Washington County Hospital.
  The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with the Revs. L.J. Bergthold and Walter F. Boeckmann in charge. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening in the Sherman-Eden funeral Home with the K.C. Rosary service to follow.
  A memorial service has been established for the cancer fund.
  Mr. Walker was born at Ainsworth Aug. 15, 1900, a son of James and Margaret Swift Walker. He was reared here and married Nov. 20, 1929 to Marguerite Whittaker. He served on the city council for four years, was a member of St. James Catholic Church, a charter member of the St. james Knights of Columbus.
  Mrs. Walker died Aug. 2, 1966. Surviving are three sons: Grant W. and Gale D. of Washington, and Major Hugh Walker of Fort Bragg, N.C.; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Carol) Giardino of Washington; and 23 grandchildren.
  Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

  Walker - Funeral services for Hubert Walker were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. James Church with the Rev. L.J. Bergthold officiating. Pallbearers were James F. Walker, Clarence Berkhoff, Milo Weaver, John Baldrige, Frank Dea and John Whittaker. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery. Sherman-Eden Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
