Funeral of Mrs. Walker Thursday

Death Occurred Yesterday Afternoon, Following Illness of Six Months

  Funeral services for Mrs. James M. Walker, who died at her home, 420 West Sixth street, yesterday afternoon, will be held at the St. James Catholic church Thursday morning at 9:30, with solemn high mass in charge of Rev. W. J. Guinan of Parnell, Rev. William Lawler of Davenport, and Rev. Father Orlowski, who is in charge of the church here in the absence of Father M. J. Hartigan, Burial will be Elm Grove cemetery.
  Mrs. Walker had been ill for the last six months and death was due to carcinoma. Her death is a severe bereavement in her home circle and a source of grief among her many friends. She was devoted to her home and family and delighted in nothing so much as ministering to her husband and children. She was a great lover of nature and spent as much of her time as possible among the birds and flowers. She was a devoted member of the St. James Catholic church.
  Margaret Swift was a daughter of J. C. Swift and Mary Rimmer Swift, and was born on a farm near Ainsworth May 17, 1870. She was married to James M. Walker September 6, 1892, and they lived at Ainsworth for a time, moving to Washington eighteen years ago.
  She is survived by her husband, her aged mother, four children, Loretta, Bernard, Hubert and Jack, and one brother and seven sisters, Miss Katherine Swift, Miss Agnes Swift, John Swift of Jennings, Kansas, Mrs. Theresa Vastine, Mrs. Charles Ragan, Mrs. C. C. Wilson, Mrs. John Wheelan and Mrs. Leonard Bailey. They all live in this community except the one brother. One sister, Mrs. Dan Sullivan, and one brother, George Swift are deceased.

  Walker -- Funeral services for Mrs. James M. Walker were held yesterday morning at 9:30 in St. James Catholic church. Solemn high mass was celebrated by Father J. Orlowski who is in charge of the charge of the St. James parish during the absence in Ireland of Father M. J. Hartigan. He was assisted by Father W. E. Lawler of St. Ambrose college, Davenport, and Father Courtney of Pleasant Plain. Interment was in Elm Grove cemetery. The pall bearers were A. B. Swift, Francis Swift, Albert Donovan, Joe Lohberger, Dr. J. A. Marie and James Boyd.
